Let's take a walk into the world of book binding. In this mixed media class we will Gel Print our way to making a fabulous, chunky 6.5"x9" canvas covered journal book which can be used for art journal, smash booking, scrap booking, glue book or anywhere else you need splash of color in your life. We will start with some Gel Plate fun but feel free to bring papers you have already created to fill out your book. Designing the cover & making the journal will be the focus. Learning this simple method of binding, you will crate a one of a kind treasure, featuring your unique color palette. I have added tricks and tips to make book binding this project easier and stream lined the process. We will complete this book with 3 signatures and you will have room to add 2-3 more signatures as your book grows. There is also room to add beads, charms & your favorite embellishments later to make it even more personal. Come join in the fun.

Student Supplies:
Gel Plate or Press- any size but 8x10 or larger preferred
Brayer
Acrylic Paint- you will want lots & many colors including black and white
Stencils- you will want lots of patterns (I will have some to share)
A pencil, bone folder & scissors
Awl or Pokey tool
Needle- leather or book binding is good with a large enough hole to fit waxed thread that is 1mm
Ruler & eyelet setter if you have one
8 binder clips 1/2" or 1"
Gel medium of tacky wet glue or PVA glue (a thicker gel medium is best like soft gel)
Gel Plate prints, junque paper, scrapbook paper (some will be provided)
